3 Idiot fame, Rajkumar Hirani directed the movie, and he also wrote the screenplay with Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon. The film was produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films.

Ever since ‘Dunki hit the theatres, many people have been eagerly waiting to find out which online streaming platform would be lucky enough to showcase the film. According to reliable sources, JioCinema emerged as the top bidder and successfully secured the rights for Dunki’s release on an OTT platform. This means that viewers can soon enjoy the movie on JioCinema. However, the actual release date is still under discussion, but if the reports are to be believed, ‘Dunki‘ will be available on JioCinema by February 2024.

The OTT rights for ‘Dunkiwereas were bought with a staggering amount of Rs.155 Crores, making it one of the most significant post-theatrical deals in the history of Hindi cinema. This substantial investment by JioCinema highlights the immense popularity and anticipation surrounding Dunki’s online release.

‘Dunki’ made its way to cinemas across the globe on December 21, 2023. While opinions among critics varied, with some praising the film and others expressing mixed views, its box office performance spoke volumes. The movie raked in an impressive ₹436.39 crore (equivalent to US$55 million) globally, surpassing its production and marketing expenses that amounted to ₹120 crore (US$15 million).

This financial success propelled ‘Dunki’ to secure its position as the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023, the ninth highest-grossing Indian film of the same year, and an impressive 27th in the all-time list of highest-grossing Indian films.
