Mohammed Shami Gives BRUTALLY Honest Take On Hardik Pandya Leaving Gujarat Titans to Mumbai indians. Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, the biggest news came during the trade when Hardik Pandya, their captain for the last two seasons, left the franchise to join his old team Mumbai Indians for a deal worth Rs 15 cr.
Pandya was particularly successful in his stint as captain having led GT to their only IPL title in 2022, and a runner-up finish the following season in 2023. Another key member of the GT squad, veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami, had an interesting response to the departure of the star all-rounder from the squad.
In an interaction with News24, Mohammed Shami said that no one cares about Hardik Pandya leaving the franchise. He wanted to leave and hence left and wasn’t tied to the franchise for a lifetime.
“Kisi ko kisi ke jaane se koi farak nahi padta. (No one cares about anyone (Hardik Pandya) leaving the franchise). Hardik wanted to leave and he left. He did well as a captain as Gujarat made it to the final twice and also won the title once. He wasn’t tied up to Gujarat for a lifetime,” the star fast bowler added.
Gujarat Titans have announced star India opening batsman Shubman Gill as the man to replace Hardik Pandya as the new captain of the franchise. Speaking about the new captain, Shami said he will become experienced and there is a possibility that he might also play for another franchise in the future, as it is part and parcel of the game.
“Shubman Gill will also become experienced and there is a possibility of him playing for another franchise in the future. You can’t stop anyone as it is part and parcel of the game,” Shami added,
