The BCCI is also not satisfied with certain players’ unwillingness to participate in domestic cricket; as a result, the board has been severe and has instructed players who are not on the Indian squad to play in the upcoming Ranji Trophy round.

Actually, Ishan Kishan was dropped from the team after the South Africa tour. The administration of the team reportedly suggested that he play domestic cricket in order to recover. However, the wicket-keeper batsman refused to play in first-class cricket. Currently, he is seen preparing for IPL 2024 in Baroda. He was seen practicing with IPL team captain Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. BCCI has given strict instructions that the players who are out of the Indian team have to join their respective Ranji teams before the next round starting from 16th February.

It has been reported that Ishan Kishan will participate in the DY Patil competition prior to the 2024 Indian Premier League. However, no information has been received yet about the young player playing in Ranji Trophy. Media sources claim that Ishan Kishan took a lengthy hiatus from cricket because he didn’t spend enough time with his family. During this period he stayed away from cricket. Recently, while talking about the return of Ishan Kishan, the team’s head coach Rahul Dravid had said that he will have to play ‘some cricket’ to make a place in the team. Dravid said, “There is a definite path of return for everyone. He needs to go play cricket and return whenever he’s ready. He will determine when he begins to play.. We are not forcing him to do anything.”
