Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, has declared that Rohit Sharma will lead India in the Upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 and even asserted that the squad will win the title in Barbados with the opener leading the charge.
Ahead of India vs. England in the Rajkot Test on February 14, the BCCI secretary confirmed the information during the stadium’s unveiling.
“We might not have won the 2023 ODI World Cup final. However, we won hearts by winning ten straight games there. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, I have no doubt that India will win the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados, “Jay Shah said.
As the principal guest, Shah attended the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Khanderi, which was renamed in honor of seasoned cricket administrator Niranjan Shah.
In front of a group of luminaries that included former India captains Sunil Gavaskar and Anil Kumble as well as IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, Shah delivered a speech.
Present chief selector Ajit Agarkar, head coach Rahul Dravid, Rohit, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj and a few support staff members of the Indian squad were also present at the event.
